Venerdi

Today I woke up around 10:30 to my housemates having a party. For some reason they decided that after coming home late the night before they should get up and start partying again. Can't beat em, gotta join em? Since there was no way I was gonna get back to sleep I just got up and went with it. After breakfast, I decided to go to the Accademia Gallery with my housemate Brian. The museum is only a ten minute walk away. Admission was free with our "Amici delgi Uffizi" pass. We would have had to pay over ten euros for a regular unscheduled visit! The only reason people go to the Accademia is to get a look at Michelangelo's most famous sculpture, The David. Even after seeing a couple other David replicas around Florence, it was really cool to finally see the original one. There are so many details carved out of one huge marble slab. The sculpture must be almost 15 feet tall. The David is really a sight to see. Of course pictures were not allowed here either, but how else am I supposed to remember what this great piece of art looks like?

After the museum, I went on my longest run I have done here in Florence, almost an even ten. Slowly but surely I'm getting back into it. Naturally I will take Saturday and Sunday off for my busy weekend. This weekend I will be heading to the French Riveria with my school here (at least half of the trip is made up of Marist students.) Updates coming when I get back...
