Where Did That Monument Come From?

Last night coming back from Italian class, there appeared to be a huge structure in front of the Duomo. Some of us thought we had seen it before, others swore is was never there. Later on that night when we walked by, we noticed a large sign commemorating tre di febbraio...... Anyway we figure that means it did get put up that day. I decided not to run today since I might've overdone it the day before. The outside part of my knee was hurting and I erred on the side of caution. Classes today were eh. My 10:30 philosophy class in the morning is kinda boring. Then I had the whole day free until my 6 pm Italian class. We knew we wanted to go to the movies tonight so we decided to grab a quick Kebab on the way back from class to make the 8 pm showing. I had never had a Kebab before, but it was one of the most delicious foods ever! Better than anything else I have eaten since being in Italy. Its called a kebab because the meat used (lamb) in the wrap is hung on a giant shish kebab to be grated off. Originating in Turkey, the kebab is a wrap with lamb, lettuce, tomato, and 2 types of dressing (one of which had to be spicy). We got the meal with a soda (beer couldn't be substituted, yes we asked) for 5 Euro. It was worth every penny. But that's not where our amazing eating exploits would end either. We rushed to the Cinemas to watch a movie in English. We went to see Hurt Locker, which already makes me feel "out of it" having never heard this movie advertised before. The theater was amazing. It must have been an Opera House back in the day. The seats were bigger and more comfortable than the new chairs in Regal Cinemas. The entire movie was a thrill. Very inspiring movie, it shed a lot of light on our troops in Baghdad. It just makes you realize how good we have it over here (there i should say) in the States, when we have others fighting on the front lines for our safety. It is also very sad to realize that many do not make it back home, sometimes unnecessarily. I think its safe to say we were all sufficiently shaken coming out of the movie.
